3 things that happen to your brain when you're dehydrated.

The brain is one thirsty organ. Did you know the big boss upstairs is made from 73% water, so even a 2% dip in hydration can impact its day-to-day function?

1. Low mood

Drinking enough water is key to keeping a good mood. Dehydration can contribute to lower, sadder moods as it can get in the way of your serotonin production.

2. Hard to focus

Dehydrated and need to get sh*t done? Good luck.

The brains of dehydrated adults show increased neuron activity when undertaking cognitively engaging tasks, meaning the big boss upstairs is working overtime to complete, well, anything really.

3. Sleep issues

When we’re dehydrated, our hormone production is impacted – including the sleep hormone, melatonin. Constant dehydration can reduce the levels of essential amino acids required to produce melatonin, meaning it can be hard for you to get a good night’s sleep.

Um, can you not take a hint? Go drink some water!
